Do you want to know how to install a ceiling fan? At Magnovent we bring you this complete step-by-step guide so that you can do it in the simplest and safest way possible.
Before starting to install a ceiling fan, you should know some key elements such as the characteristics of the room, the type of ceiling on which you are going to install it, etc. This will allow you to know what materials and tools you need for a correct installation.
On which type of ceiling should the fan be installed?
Knowing the type of ceiling on which the fan is going to be installed is very important in order to know the material required. On the other hand, the floor slabs are the elements on which the floors are fixed so, on the one hand, it will form the floor and on the other hand, the ceiling if it is a high floor or a multi-storey building.
There are different types of slabs such as:
- Concrete: The concrete slab is constructed with concrete, steel or solid brick pillars on which the slab is fixed. In order to install a ceiling fan on this type of slab, expansion plugs made of plastic, fibre or metal must be used. On one side you will find the dowel and on the other side the hexagonal head screw that will hold the fan bracket.
- Vaults: Bovedillas are ceramic or concrete pieces in which the floor slabs are fixed to pillars or load-bearing walls. As a hollow element, galvanised steel rocker blocks are used to install the fan.
- False ceiling: The false ceiling is usually lower than the floor slab and is also spaced a certain distance apart. As it has a hollow structure, galvanised steel or threaded rod rocker dowels are the ideal dowels to install the fan correctly.

Advantages of installing a ceiling fan

By reducing the usage time of other climate control systems such as air conditioning, energy consumption is reduced and therefore energy savings are achieved.
- Improves health: Ceiling fans contribute to better air circulation by preventing air stagnation, creating a cooler and healthier atmosphere.
- Decorative and functional at the same time: In addition to their high functionality, ceiling fans feature innovative designs that easily blend in with the décor of any environment.

Install Magnovent ceiling fan
Now, once you know what type of ceiling you are going to install the fan on, the tools and material you need and the advantages of having a ceiling fan, we are going to develop the step by step instructions to install a Magnovent ceiling fan:
- First of all, you must disconnect the power supply from the main switchboard.
- Secondly, define the exact place where you will install the fan (*Please consider installing it in the middle of the room for optimal performance).
- For proper operation you should consider the height of the room ceiling and the size of the room.
- Once you have decided on the exact location and marked it, you will have to start preparing the engine, trim, seatpost and rosette assembly.
- Fix the blade brackets to the motor, but do not tighten them, as they may twist and unbalance the fan. Then attach the rosette and the trim to the seat post.
- Pass the motor cables through the inside of the seat post and fix it to the motor, using the pin with the hook and screws.
- Once you have the assembly ready, you must hang it by inserting the coupling at the end of the seatpost into the open ring of the bracket and aligning the slot with the notch.
- Make the fan connections with the specific terminals. In the case of ceiling fans with light, usually the power supply for the light and the fan motor are not independent, so you will find the same cable for both. If, on the other hand, you find two wires, you must connect them together to the same terminal.
- With the installation done and the connections made, you will need to test both the light and the fan motor.
- Fix the rosette to the top of the seat post with screws to hide the bracket.
- Finally, apply the blades to the fan (*Pay special attention to place them on the right side so as not to bend them).
